Candle Care!

More goes into a candle's first burn than you may think. Let's prepare your candle for it's first light!

Before you light your candle, ensure your wick is trimmed to the proper size of 1/4 of an inch, and be sure to trim the wick before each future light. This will help to limit soot and debris from the burned wick falling into your candle wax.

Place your candle on a stable, level, heat resistant surface only! Keep away from curtains or drapes, open windows, children, and pets.

It's time to light! Have your candle lit until the wax has completely melted around the diameter of the jar. This usually takes between 2-4 hours, depending on the size of your candle. Try not to extinguish before the "melt pool" has extended to all sides of the jar, or you may experience tunneling with future lights. Tunneling can make it hard to light your candle and it may not burn evenly. 

Never leave a lit candle unattended. Extinguish before leaving a room or your house to ensure safety. Never fall asleep with a candle burning and never touch hot wax or the flame with your fingers.

Be sure to trim the wick before each future burn. This will keep the candle looking pretty and fresh, while also maintaining safety. Untrimmed wicks could result in popping, big flames, smoke and a ton of soot.
